Wicked Dub Horizon - The Azure Fade collab

joejoe74236 (08/04/08 10:27:45)   Tag: music video
here's a recent collab done with manudub soundsystem. i used his song wicked dub horizon for this latest experimental film.

several years of intellectual solitude in a strange foreign country can do strange things to a man and produces a unique sort of becoming.

it took quite a while to finish and has some stop motion animation in the work as well.

looking forward to doing more of this kind of thing. this particular work was a joy.

hope you all enjoy this one. peace.

Plastique Bertrands Dub - Nietzsche Luv and the Grim Grimmers

Plastique Bertrands Dub - Nietzsche Luv and the Grim Grimmers Thought I'd take you along on a metaphysical journey inspired by the stylings of the Grim Grinners.

This work was also inspired by the music of a band named Sonogram. The song in the opening sequence is called "Barfly". The latter half uses "Plastique Bertrands Dub" from the Grim Grinners. They've got some great music so go on and check their profile on this site.

The educational films "A is for Atom" and "Drunk Effects" as well as the 1948 Dancing Lucky Strike cigarette commercial are public domain in the archives. www.archive.org .

What did i attempt to accomplish from this work? It's an attempt to identify and associate with an existentialist strength of will, a desire to overcome and become, while at the same time weaving this thought with the idea of Terence Mckenna's metaphysical determinism. This is a meditation on consciousness.

Enjoy the ride! and listen to it loud.

Underground Dub Luxury

joejoe74236 (04/06/08 07:31:16)   Tag: video
Underground Dub Luxury A glimpse into the nightlife of one of the most exciting cities in China, Shanghai. This is an experimental film influenced by musicians in the dub world and experimental film icon Bruce Connor.

This was done as an artistic collaboration with Manudub, the song 'Underground Dub Luxury' is off the group's their LP entitled The Dubploixtation Sessions Vol. 1. It was really a joy making this one. The song works real well with what I was trying to go for. Again, all the footage comes from the little Olympus picture camera I had at the time. The loops are all licensed under creative commons and can be acquired at the archives, www.archive.org .

Paranoia & Metaphysics

joejoe74236 (04/06/08 07:14:46)   Tag: video
Paranoia & Metaphysics Although I don't create the music I am very much inspired by the songs and look to show that appreciation through experimental film montage. Here's the first film I'd like to show you.

This is an abstract journey through a debilitating and delusional attack of paranoic dementia. The work was inspired by the stylings of Blue Vitriol, a digidub group from California (www.bluevitriol.com).

An experimental venture, filmed and edited over a period of four weeks in East China. Shot with an Olympus digital picture camera, believe it or not, and strung together with several loop and stock clips.

Good luck to all the artists out there, I'm looking forward to having a chance to work together in the future. Enjoy the ride!
