Cheers for all the comments. Yeah, I was debating about the storm, but kept it in there - dubbin' with the Creator! I stuck an HPF already on there at about 60 I think, but will defo try cutting them mids! And yeah, Bill - serious track this. The sound is so authentic it's brilliant. I sat there for ages dubbing it - got about 20 mixes of it I think, lol! Blessed Love!
Great work again Tim...
The reason that I said it was mediocre was, to me this was not my favorite. I never really liked the finished sound of the bass on my version. And maybe because I listened to it too often the sounds got a bit old. However if such guys as yourselves liked then I defer to men who know what they are talking about. And I do appreciate the kind words over the riddim. Blessins!
Top quality as usual. I really like the storm concept. This song actually gives off that emotion, so id say you captured that vibe %100. I dont know, this might be new favorite of this riddim out of the ones ive heard.
I actually like the storm all the way through it. I feel it fits the song well, and if normally be opposed to this idea as bib is saying.. Its almost like a sc ene out of movie or something. Because the music is soo emtional and intense. That piano riff is legendary. REALLY. If someone told me this was some lost agustus pablo works, i would believe it. Wouldnt even question it. So authentic sound and vibe is here.
Actually, now that im listening to it somemore.. The storm could come down in the mix a little bit. But i like it being there the whole time, its just a tad bit loud at times. Thinking it needs a high pass filter at about 70-100hz on the storm as well. And a cut to the high mids that are rumbling on the thunder. It gets a little too rumbly, taking away from the song as bib described. Just giving you some construtive, outside listener, suggestions. 3 ears are always better then one.. Unless the other 2 are def. :D Haha .. i dont even know what i just said..
Downloading.. might eq it myself. :D
cool dub,i would only have the storm at the intro outro as it distacts attention all the way thru.apart from that solid dubbin.i dont know how bill can call this tune of his mediocre,as i think its one of is best.
Really nice sound that you captured! Must have been a wicked storm! Really nice dubbing going on!!!! Love those long delays over the breakdowns. All of you guys took a mediocre tune and really something special of it. Thanks for the work! Bless!
BTW no I didn't own the Boss FX unit when I made this. I haven't used it on a song yet, as I have some input issues to work out with the Mac due to Digidesign having not upgraded to Leopard yet... soon come. ~I hope.
Love it! I like the fact that you added some of your own original instrumentation. It really changed everything about this track. Youve brought a powerful emotion to this track, like you do with all your music. Thats one your specialties. You have a great way of creating feelings and emotions with the melodies and sounds you pick. Thats an extremely valuable talent. And im not just talking about this song. All your music in general. This is just another extention of that. A pleasure to download this one. :)
We actually had a horns the night we recorded this.. but this track was the last thing we recorded before the session was done, and the horn players had left already because they thought we were done. This was a spur of the moment little jam we wanted to throw down real quick. So, thats the reason for the minimal tracks. :)
Thanks for the comments. As regards the horn licks Kack, man, when I heard them I fell in love with them. Stev, from Root ID did the original music, I just dubbed it up. He's got one awesome talent that guy. I'm trying to link him to get him here and post some of his tracks.......and also IRP, if you read this, you should repost some of them accapellas you used to send to versionist. Some awesome material there.
